Refund & Deposit Policy

Exactly how deposits, balances, and refunds work when you reserve a calf with us — in plain language, before you pay a cent.

Last updated: June 9, 2026

We want every buyer to feel confident before placing a deposit. This page explains what is refundable, what is not, and why — so there are no surprises.

Reservation Deposits

  • A 50% deposit reserves your chosen calf, removes it from public listings, and stops us from showing it to other buyers.
  • Because we take the calf off the market and continue feeding, handling, and caring for it under your name, deposits are generally non-refundable.
  • For farm pickup, a $200 holding fee per calf confirms your order; the calf is then prepared and ready for collection within 3 business days.

When a Refund Is Issued

You will receive a full refund of your deposit if:

  • The calf becomes ill, is injured, or passes away before delivery and we cannot offer a replacement you’re happy with.
  • We are unable to fulfill your reservation for any reason on our end.
  • A licensed veterinarian documents a covered health condition that existed before delivery and you choose not to accept a replacement (see our Health Guarantee).

When a Deposit Is Not Refundable

  • You change your mind after the calf has been reserved in your name.
  • Your circumstances change (moving, fencing, timing, finances) after a deposit is placed.
  • You fail to complete the final balance or arrange pickup/transport within the agreed window.

If you can no longer move forward, contact us as early as possible — in many cases we can apply your deposit to a different available calf or a future calf instead of forfeiting it. We handle these case by case and in good faith.

Holding & Care After Deposit

  • Once your deposit clears, we hold your calf at no extra charge for up to 60 days.
  • Continued care beyond 60 days is available at $2 per calf, per day, payable before pickup or delivery.

Final Balance

The remaining balance is due before pickup or before transport begins. Accepted payment methods: Zelle, Chime, Apple Cash, and Bitcoin. Shipping, when required, is quoted separately and paid by the buyer.

Shipping & Risk

  • Shipping costs are non-refundable once transport has been booked.
  • Risk of loss transfers to the buyer once the calf leaves our property with a USDA-approved transporter.

How to Request a Refund

Email hello@minihighlandcowranch.com with your name, the calf reserved, and your reason. We respond to every refund request within 3 business days, and approved refunds are returned by your original payment method whenever possible.
